Sword & Shield

The Sword and Shield (SNS) Spear DPS build in New World capitalizes on high damage over time (DoT) with a dynamic rotation that blends Bleeding Spear abilities with Sword and Shield power moves. On the Spear, the key is to open with Skewer for bleed, follow with Perforate to apply Rend or Cyclone for good damage and life steal , and finish the combo with Sweep to keep enemies off balance. After this setup, switch to Sword and Shield, utilizing Defender's Resolve or Shield Rush for defensive utility and additional crowd control. This is followed by a heavy attack into Whirling Blade for an AoE bleed, three light attacks to build pressure, and then Upheaval for burst damage and cooldown reduction , finishing with another Whirling Blade to maintain the bleeds. By cycling through this rotation, the build delivers sustained DoT while controlling the battlefield.

Attributes

Focus on reaching 350 Strength, with the rest allocated to Dexterity. Using Grey Wizards Hat allows you to add 50 points to Intelligence. Take points from Dexterity to add constitution as required.

Armor

As always with armor you are looking at as much enchanted ward as possible while having your 4 refreshing stacks, fill any gaps with health , conditioning or other weapon perks you may want , harnessing is not needed with this build. Ensure your amulet is Health , Empowered & Protection . Empowered on ammulet is very strong on this build

Remember perks are the key , perks are more important than gear score, you don’t have to have Bis gearscore , substitute with what you have available like azoth crystal gear

Highest Damage

Weapons

This build is all about stacking those bleeds as you can see below

Skill Tree

Designed when you have a main spear player running skewer + perforate

Defenders resolve offering base damage increase and damage reduction but a long cooldown and animation time

Good cc and weaken with shield rush

More protection

Apply bleed with skewer and sweep , cyclone for healing with Leeching cyclone.

Taking the last point in skewer and only one point in perforate allows you to stack debuffs with you main spear.
